Manager, Patient Safety and Regulatory (Full-Time)

The Manager, Patient Safety & Regulatory is responsible for the operational management and coordination of the organization's Patient Safety and Regulatory Compliance programs. Reporting to the Director of Quality & Patient Safety, this position leads day-to-day patient safety activities, regulatory readiness (e.g., DNV), accreditation support, event reporting (e.g., Midas, NJ DOH PSRS), and performance monitoring to promote a culture of safety and continuous regulatory compliance.

The Manager partners with physicians, nursing leadership, department managers, and interdisciplinary teams to investigate patient safety events, identify opportunities for improvement, implement corrective actions, and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. This role serves as an organizational resource for patient safety, High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, Just Culture, and regulatory preparedness while supporting the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field. - Current New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license. - Minimum three (3) years of clinical healthcare experience. - Experience with patient safety event investigations, root cause analysis, and/or regulatory compliance. - Strong organizational, analytical, project management, and communication skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and healthcare data reporting systems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field. - Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or other applicable certification. - Experience with DNV accreditation, CMS Conditions of Participation, New Jersey Department of Health regulations, Leapfrog Hospital Survey, MIDAS event reporting, and Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs). - Knowledge of High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles, Just Culture, Human Factors, and performance improvement methodologies.

Pay transparency:  St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law.  The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.


Organization

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.
