The Director of Total Rewards works with senior management to ensure that compensation and benefits programs support the organization’s business objectives and meet all legal requirements. Responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of Human Resources Total Rewards strategy, organization’s compensation and benefits programs, including base pay, incentive pay, health and welfare benefits, and retirement benefits. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives and develops  budgets/policies/procedures to support the infrastructure. Demonstrates strong analytical ability necessary to design highly-complex systems and programs, resolve problems requiring a comprehensive and state-of-the-art awareness of the technology and literature in benefits, compensation and human resources field. Develops financial and operating plans for the organization. Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, as well as legislation and trends that impact benefits and compensation. Proven ability to track, prioritize and drive to success multiple concurrent projects; demonstrated expertise as an executor, with strong operational background and subject matter expert of Compensation and Benefits. Demonstrates strong Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to collaborate and play a 'hands-on' role with key projects, ability to take initiative and anticipate customer needs and issues.

Prepares job analysis in accordance with compensation guidelines. Works collaboratively with the HR CHRO, all Executive Leaders and all HR leaders to develop and deliver well-considered compensation and benefits solutions and processes with innovative technology solutions.

Qualifications
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or closely related field, and five to seven years of work related experience. Requires the analytical ability necessary to design highly-complex systems and programs, resolve problems requiring a comprehensive and state-of-the-art awareness of the technology and literature in a professional, benefits and human resources field or develop financial and operating plans for a large department. Education, Experience and Certifications • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred • 8-10 years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources with at least 5 years of experience in designing total rewards programs • 5 years of people management experience required • Experience in the healthcare industry or similar healthcare environment preferred • Experience selecting and managing external vendor relationships, RFP’s, benefits, compensation, total rewards design programs • CCP, CBP, or CEBS preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Ability to observe confidentiality and discretion. • Leadership skills balanced with a willingness to collaborate and play a 'hands-on' role with key projects, ability to take initiative and anticipate customer needs and issues. • Proven ability to track, prioritize and drive to success multiple concurrent projects; demonstrated expertise as an executor, with strong operational background and subject matter expert. • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations, as well as legislation and trends that impact benefits and compensation • Effectively cope with change, act without having the total picture and manage risk. • Analytical, ability to evaluate complex data and make recommendations. • Knowledge of HRIS systems, SAP / UKG working knowledge preferred.

Pay transparency:  St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law.  The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.


Organization

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures. 

The Medical Center offers a full complement of specialty and subspecialty services including ambulatory, behavioral health, cardiovascular, emergency/trauma, internal medicine, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedic/spine, rehabilitation, surgical specialty, women’s health, imaging and pediatrics.
