Cardiac Critical Care and Advanced Heart Failure Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a physician with expertise in cardiac critical care, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support (MCS) to help advance our cardiovascular critical care and heart failure programs.

The physician will care for high-acuity cardiovascular patients within a collaborative CCU/CTICU environment and work closely with Advanced Heart Failure, General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Electrophysiology.

Responsibilities
- Practice across Cardiac Critical Care and Advanced Heart Failure - Manage complex cardiovascular patients, including cardiogenic shock, acute decompensated heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, severe arrhythmias, and hemodynamic instability - Participate as a core member of a multidisciplinary cardiogenic shock team - Manage patients requiring temporary mechanical circulatory support - Provide inpatient and outpatient advanced heart failure care - Optimize guideline-directed medical therapy and advanced HF treatment strategies - Expand remote heart failure monitoring, including CardioMEMS - Perform appropriate diagnostic and hemodynamic procedures in the Cath Lab - Collaborate with cardiac surgery and regional advanced heart failure centers regarding advanced therapies - Participate in the development of cardiogenic shock, MCS, and advanced heart failure programs - Teach and mentor Cardiology fellows and Internal Medicine house staff - Opportunities for clinical education, quality improvement, research, and program development

Qualifications
Required: - MD or DO degree - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease - Cardiac Critical Care training or significant experience managing critically ill cardiovascular patients - Expertise in cardiogenic shock and mechanical circulatory support - Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey - Strong commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary cardiovascular care Preferred: - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology - Experience with cardiogenic shock programs and advanced MCS - Academic, teaching, research, quality improvement, or program-development experience

Pay transparency:  St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law.  The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation.


Organization

St. Joseph’s University Medical Center is an academic tertiary care medical center and state designated trauma center, located on the Paterson campus, regularly accepts referrals of difficult or unusual cases from other hospitals and physicians and performs both complex and routine procedures.
